It’s a little taboo- this idea of having photos taken of yourself half naked (or hey, maybe even baring it all). And this radical notion of loving yourself and your body? Isn’t that a little egotistical? Thinking you’re all that and a bag of chips (or whatever the cool kids say these days)?
Maybe it is. Maybe it is a little out there to like who you are. To like your eyes, your smile, your curvy hips, or less than flat tummy. Why is that? Is it because we are taught at a young age that the only way to get respect is to be modest? That the only right way to have a body is if it’s young, toned, skinny, and yet still have boobs and a butt? That you should feel ashamed of your body if it’s anything but that?
Listen up. Beauty exists in everyone. It exists in freckled faces, booty dimples, cellulite, stretch marks, flat chests, short hair, long hair, no hair, and literally everything in between. The beauty of you is the simple fact that you are quite literally one of a kind. Think about it this way- diamonds are expensive because they are considered rare and precious. Classic cars are coveted because there aren’t many out there. And you there, reading this blog right now, are ONE OF A KIND. The rarest of them all. It’s 2020 and it’s COOL to love who you are. Boudoir is an experience that celebrates that. You being you. It doesn’t discriminate against body types, race, age, etc. It’s for ALL women. It allows you to finally see yourself in a different light. One that isn’t being filtered through that little voice in the back of your head telling you that you aren’t good enough. You can finally see yourself for who you truly are.
A lot of women leave the studio renewed, vibrant, and confident. Ready to *figuratively hold up a middle finger to society, media, and everything else that has been trying to sell her the lie that she is not good enough. With self-love and power radiating from her, she holds her head higher than she did before. And it’s contagious.
But I’m not here to sell you this idea that every woman has an epiphany during her session. Some take a little more time. This may be the first time you’ve dipped your toes into the radical notion of loving yourself. And maybe you leave the studio surprised that you were able to pick more than a couple photos that you like of yourself. You talked a lot about you- who you are, where you come from, what you are passionate about. You were pampered by the WMNKND team and felt seen as an individually unique human being for the first time in a long time. We planted a seed. A seed that will continue to grow long after you leave the studio.
This is an experience specifically for women to become confident in who they are- mind, body, and spirit. It’s for celebrating your individuality. It’s for empowering you to be you. To know that you are exactly who you are meant to be- a powerful force of a woman that can face this world and not doubt her worth.
