Any time of year is a perfect time to get together with people you love and share a drink, a meal, or a laugh. There is something so special, though, about a classic GNO…girls’ night out.

We’ve rounded up some of our favorite spots and ideas for a hang session with your best friends in Kansas City. Since it is the winter time, we’ve decided to opt for indoor options and winter-themed pop ups. Keep an eye out for a warm weather girls’ night guide!

Relaxed & Chill

1. Third Place Lounge
   1. Neighborhood: Just outside Crossroads
   2. Features: board games, karaoke, mocktails
   3. Vibes: chill, hang sesh, relaxed
   4. Overview: Adorable and very Instagrammable (if you’re into that), this spot is tucked away in a quiet spot just outside the Crossroads. With murals, swings, board games, and handcrafted cocktails and mocktails, this is a perfect place to relax and unwind.
      
2. Brookside Ceramics
   1. Neighborhood: Brookside
   2. Features: ceramics studio, BYOB
   3. Vibes: relaxed, creative
   4. Overview: Adorable and right across the street from Front Range Coffee & Bar, this paint your own ceramics studio offers a space for creativity. There ae no studio fees, you’ll pay for the piece you choose. Once you’ve glazed your piece you’ll leave it to be fired and pick it up in 7-10 days. Drop in unplanned or book a party and split the fee!

Cozy & Intimate

1. Green Lady Lounge
   1. Neighborhood: Crossroads
   2. Features: Live Jazz 365 days a year!
   3. Vibes: Classy lounge, relaxed, low key
   4. Overview: Dim lighting, live jazz, drinks for those who enjoy alcohol and a mocktail menu for those who don’t, this is a super intimate spot to hang out with your favorite women. There are no reservations at this venue so if you plan to visit we recommend arriving earlier than later.
      
2. Tom’s Town Distillery
   1. Neighborhood: Downtown
   2. Features: Locally distilled liquor
   3. Vibes: dimly lit speakeasy
   4. Overview: Speakeasy vibes are what you’ll encounter at Tom’s Town with a view of their distillery on display! Sit at the bar to watch the bartenders craft your drinks or opt for a cozy table further away from the action.
      
3. The Monarch Bar
   1. Neighborhood: Plaza
   2. Features: Craft cocktails
   3. Vibes: glam and refined
   4. Overview: Known for their elaborate cocktail menu and world-class bartenders, Monarch is a glam and fun spot. There are many seating options and the decor is luxe, creating a perfect occasion to wear that little sparkly number you never have a place to wear.

Drinks & Dancing

1. The Easy Inn
   1. Neighborhood: Strawberry Hill (KCK)
   2. Features: Pool table, bar games, hidden gem
   3. Vibes: Dive bar, cozy, relaxing
   4. Overview: More of a jeans and sneakers joint than heels and mini skirts (although, wear whatever you want!!) The Easy Inn offers a perfect dive bar experience. Strawberry Hill is an adorable little neighborhood nestled just over state line in KCK.
      
2. Missie B’s
   1. Neighborhood: Midtown/Westport
   2. Features: Drag shows, dancing
   3. Vibes: classic GNO, drinks and dancing
   4. Overview: The classic KC Drag experience, Missie B’s is a haven for dancing and drinks. Enjoy regular drag shows (make sure to tip your performers!) and a lighted dance floor. Keep in mind, they’re cash only! Make sure you hit the ATM before you go.
      
3. In the Lowest Ferns
   1. Neighborhood: West Bottoms
   2. Features: Dancing, live DJs
   3. Vibes: Hifi Dance Party
   4. Overview: Focused on providing the best auditory experience possible, In the Lowest Ferns offers HiFi party vibes in an off-the-beaten-path venue. There’s a section of lounge and a dance floor that regularly features DJs from across the country.

Pop Ups

1. Vignettes Bar – Pink Pony Christmas
   1. Neighborhood: North Kansas City
   2. Features: rotating themed pop ups
   3. Vibes: pink, midwest princess, Chappell Roan
   4. Overview: My girls and I are doing this one! As devoted Chappell Roan fans we’re looking forward to a pink wonderland full of sparkle and a healthy dose of midwest. With nights for trivia, bingo, live music, and karaoke, you can choose your own experience to suit your group’s tastes.
      
2. Nine Zero One Igloo Experience at the Fontaine
   1. Neighborhood: Plaza
   2. Features: Heated outdoor igloos for you and up to 8 friends
   3. Vibes: Super cozy and unique
   4. Overview: Super glam and fun, this annual Igloo Experience uses the pool deck at the Fontaine and turns it into an igloo village. You and up to 8 of your friends can hang out for 2 hours in the heated structures and enjoy the great outdoors – without freezing. Reserve early, these go fast!

No matter where you choose, I want to encourage you to do one thing: follow through.

It’s so important that we connect with people in person and regularly. We need this real, face-to-face community connection. Life is always busy, there will always be work to do or laundry to fold but you deserve to escape and laugh for a bit. Responsibilities will still be there when you get back. Forget the excuses, make the plans and revel in the joy of being together.
