WMNKND Client’s Favorites | 2024 in Photos

Woman-owned boudoir photography studio in kansas city, missouri

What makes you feel beautiful? The end of the year is a great time for reflection and appreciation. When we considered the clients we worked with this year we thought of many favorite images. Our favorites aren’t necessarily our client’s favorites, though, so instead of choosing our favorite photos of 2024 we asked the beautiful souls who worked with us what their favorites were.

Presenting: 2024’s Best Shots (as decided by you!)

Cassidy: Warm and Happy

Boudoir doesn’t have to be all serious and sensual if that’s not your vibe! This image proudly displays the laughter and fun Cassidy is having and showcases her love of Tarot. Empowerment is about stepping out of the box the world puts you in and into what makes you feel good.

In her words: “I would love to be included! I have one photo that is my absolute favorite! I loved that I was truly laughing and happy in this photo. I feel my aura and personality shine through. This is one photo that I have consistently gone back to, and I feel so good when I look at this image.”

Danielle: Magazine-Worthy Black and White

This image is a unique one, combining black and white editing style with a spotlight! The circle of light adds a drama that is worthy of the beautiful darker lip Danielle chose for her makeup. The combo of pose, editing, and stunning model make this a definitely magical photo.

In her words: “I legit feel like this one is publish worthy! Pure magic.”

Mika: Sensual Embodiment

With a stunning half sleeve and a wild flash of hair, Mika walked in and owned her Day of Empowerment. As someone who traveled to Kansas City for her session, we were so excited to make it a beautiful experience. From the sunlight spilling over her skin to the choices of wardrobe, this session is a perfectly stunning example of embodiment.

In her words: “They make me feel like the bad bitch I know I am. And I love it!!!”

Jessica: Ethereal Laughter

Most clients have a range of emotions from sultry and sensual to giggly and fun throughout their sessions. It’s always interesting to me to see which resonates with my clients! This gorgeous image was captured using the angel wings in my Lingerie Closet (they’re featured on this list twice!). I love the fantastical option for the angels among us.

In her words: “This is my favorite for the fun and the silly and not being posed. And also because it’s so fun that I don’t focus on my jawline or my stomach. How the parts of my body that I don’t love look are really the least interesting things about me, and this shot reminds me of that.”

Amanda: Floral Magic on the Lake

This image is from one of my favorite events of the year, the Step into Your Magic retreat that I did with Stephanie Chinn. We were able to do group sessions on a rooftop at our gorgeous Air BnB in Ontario, BC and some by the lake which we had dock access to. This beautiful image was such a sweet, simple moment and that’s really what makes it special. No frills, no posing…just a stunning human surrounded by beautiful scenery.

In her words: “It’s nearly impossible to pick my favorite photo you took of me but I narrowed it down to these 2. I love that you captured my natural self- no makeup and just spinning in my pretty dress. I normally think I look terrible without makeup but these pics made me actually appreciate myself as I am.”

Eleanor: Wearing Confidence

The vintage vibes in this image are absolutely stunning. The choice of curls and red lips are such a gorgeous choice with a classic matching black lingerie set. Eleanor is known on Instagram as a writer and deep thinker, regularly asking people to challenge what they believe and having conversations with her followers. I love the confident energy she brought to her empowerment session.

A woman holds a pear during her day of empowerment with WMNKND boudoir photographer. In Kansas City, Missouri Mikaela Wendel creates beautiful artwork and embodiment through boudoir sessions.

Peyton: Goddess Energy

Peyton had a very specific vision in mind for her shoot so when she showed up we immediately hit the ground running to make her dreams come true. Incorporating fruit, draped fabric, pearls, and flowers, we were able to create a goddess energy that shines through every image. I especially love the anonymity of this photo, inviting the viewer to view the entire image without jumping right to looking at the subject’s eyes.

In her words: “This was the photo that I imagined when I initially booked. It is truly art. It made every little piece of me feel like art too.”

Lori: Vintage Vamp Vibes

Hidden from view but peeking out from behind our beloved grey wings, Lori embodied a beautiful narrative in her head. Really, nothing I could say would be better than how she said it.

In her words: “The Wing picture. When I look at this picture, it feels like an Old Time Vamp. To me, it is a visual of being shrouded by self doubt but seeing the energy and beauty of me, emerging into the light that is illuminating from the front. It looks like I am taking those first steps into Beauty and Confidence. I look at all the pictures and still can’t believe these are me!  I will never be 100% body positive, but I love that I have these to show me I am beautiful!”

Dez: The Cure

The combo of a t-shirt and lingerie really creates such an fun vibe to this one. While in a “classic” boudoir pose, the band tee offers something a little “alt” when combined with the fishnets. Dez’s shoot was such a fun one and the images we created together truly are a great representation of how sensuality looks so different on each individual.

In her words: “It was really hard picking out a favorite. I knew it had to be one of my Cure pics but which one? I decided on this one because it is my favorite one of my eyes. I also think I look the most comfortable (and confident) in this picture.”

Jacki: Snakebites

This stunning piece from Thistle & Spire against a blank wall with just sunshine and a red lip…perfection. Jacki’s session was all about stepping into loving herself more deeply since becoming a mother to a daughter she fiercely loves. The combination of power and vulnerability of this posing is striking. If you’d like to see more of Jacki’s session and hear her words, check out the blog piece we did on her Day of Empowerment (which she thought was a gimmick at first…).

In her words: “An invitation to bite me. Because I bite back.”

Carolyn: Overt and Bitchin’

This image is one of my most liked on Instagram with good reason. The striking contrast, the incredible patchwork of tattoos, the beautiful lines…it’s giving everything. I especially love how the pose creates a vulnerable feeling with the hands in the hair and turned from the camera.

In her words: “Okay so now WHY I love that one. Obviously it shows off my tattoos, I love the visible contrast of the foreground and background, but also the metaphorical contrast. Completely nude but still giving mysterious and hidden.”

Reflection and gratitude are practices that we try to embody everyday but it’s especially poignant this time of year.

I loved the practice of asking for feedback and witnessing what everyone considered to be their favorite photo. I was able to reflect on each person’s session, where they came from (a few flew into Kansas City!), and the time we had together. As we move into 2025, the idea of creating new stunning artwork alongside my clients is exciting and energizing. Especially after running into roadblock after roadblock but finally moving into my new studio, I cannot wait to fill the walls with the magic of some of these past clients and new ones as well.

Cheers to a new year with WMNKND!
